Story

As I'm sure many people are aware, an avalanche in the Glencoe area of Scotland tragically killed four people on Saturday 19th January 2013. One of those was my brother Tom Chesters. At just 28 years old, he was far too young to go, but we find small crumbs of comfort in the fact that he died whilst taking part in one of the many outdoor activities he loved. Nevertheless, these are very tragic times and, as Tom’s brother, I have felt moved to try to raise money for the mountain rescue teams who searched for Tom and the other victims of this horrid accident. In this instance, the Lochaber and Glencoe Mountain Rescue Teams were involved and, therefore, I feel it would be appropriate to split any money raised between the two teams.

Consequently, on 10th March 2013, I will be running The Grizzly - a 20ish mile multi-terrain race from Seaton in East Devon. This is a race that Tom enjoyed taking part in and it, therefore, seemed like an appropriate race for me to run to raise money. On behalf of Tom, my parents and I would be extremely grateful if you could sponsor me to raise funds for this worthy cause. When you are making your donation, please take some time to think of Tom, and also remember that Tom’s girlfriend Rachel Majumdar, as well as his friends Chris Bell and Una Finnegan, were also killed in this tragic accident.

Thank you.
