Story
To celebrate the Birthday of our late son Nathan and to raise awareness of the Fragile X society Faye and I will cycle from our home in Aldershot to Bath, and back in 24 hours. A grand total of just over 200 miles!
Nathan died in August 2012 at the age of 1 year and 12 days old due to a mitochondrial disorder. In November 2011 Nathan was diagnosed with Fragile X syndrome which is the most common known cause of inherited learning disabilities. For Nathan this meant that he suffered from a number of associated problems including developmental delay and feeding difficulties. Despite all of this he rarely complained and with his signature fingers in mouth won the heart of everyone who had the honour of meeting him. Sitting on a bike for a few hours is the least we can do in order to honour his memory.
