Story

Thank you for visiting this page.

It has touched most of our lives in some form or other and this year, in February, the bombshell landed with us - the dreaded 'cancer'

Through research, expertise and commitment a team at the Royal Berks Hospital in Reading cured my wife, Caroline, of cancer. The operation to remove her kidney was key hole and a success.  Caroline now has the all clear and no more treatment is neccessary.

We are raising money for Robbie the Robot which under the total control of a  surgeon is used to operate on Kidney and Prostate Cancers.  With the help of Robbie more people will be able to receive this pioneering key hole surgery, recover more rapidly and so be released from hospital quicker than with open surgery.  For many people the clinical outcome is a lot better.

THE CHALLENGE - a cycle ride from Padstow to Putney which is about 280 miles  to be completed by myself, our two sons Tom and James, and our eldest grandchildren Harriet and  Freddie. Three generations!   Three generations who might benefit in the future from 'Robbie' and his surgical team's skills.

Preparation and training have already started for this ride which starts in Padstow on the 30th August and finishes in Putney (in time for a well-earned lunch) on 2nd September. That's the plan!

Caroline will be driving the support vehicle and humouring us after each long day on the saddle which will be altogether another challenge!

We shall let you know how the ride went and more importantly how much was raised for the appeal. There is a good chance I am fighting over my weight with my target but it would be incredible with your help to achieve it.  The Royal Berks would be thrilled.

Many thanks in advance for your generous contribution to the fund. Every penny you are able contribute will help secure a permanant home at the Royal Berks for 'Robbie'
