Fundraising for LAWRS
Story
Having heard the stories of a number of South American women who have been supported by Latin American Women's Rights (LAWRS) and the impact that this support had on their lives, we decided to get involved and contribute our grain of sand to help this charity. This is a cause that is very close to our hearts as many of us can relate to some degree to the struggle to adapt to life in a different country, culture, language, etc. often away from family and friends.
In reality, any of us could have found ourselves facing the hardship that many women have had to endure. Thankfully, through different channels, we have managed to build a future that looks bright and find ourselves surrounded by people who love us and contribute to our personal and professional fulfilment. We are grateful for the positive experiences and do not take any of it for granted, as a sign of appreciation we would like to give back and contribute in any way, big or small to the continued support for this charity, we would appreciate any contributions that we can get to make this a great a success.
What a better way to contribute than to get active and set ourselves a new challenge by taking part on this event to raise funds for the Latin American Women's Rights (LAWRS) charity. The 10K Race Series is a women's only running event that will take place at Finsbury Park September 25th, 10 am.
LAWRS is a charity that provides specialist advice, advocacy, information and counselling services for Latin American women living in the UK to help them achieve a life free from violence, abuse and poverty. Contributions could pay for:
- Provisional child-care for women seeking advice.
-Attend English lessons and obtain UK recognized qualifications allowing them to improve their job prospects.
- Access specialized counselling and psychotherapy programs for victims of domestic violence, trafficking, or labour exploitation, among others.
