Story
I'd really like to thank everyone who donated to @doncastermind as my page comes to a close #IloveDN #Y3P #doncaster
Its almost two years to the day since I spun the car round on the M1 coming back from the East Midlands Airport ; I can remember doing a double pirouette and finishing up on the edge of a steep embankment on the hard shoulder facing on coming traffic ; to this day I don't know how I didn't hit the car that cut me up or how I wasn't hit by any vehicles travelling behind me or even how I managed to stop inches from going over the edge of the embankment ; I don't know the names of the young woman the wagon driver or the traffic officers who stopped and helped me but I will be eternally grateful not only for stopping and helping but for giving me a new perspective on life because only days before I was feeling suicidal ; that accident changed my life forever ; not only making me realise that life is precious but it also made me think that I could help others suffering from mental illness ; my first step was to complete a youth mental health first aid course and the second was to train to be a volunteer befriender for Mind
As part of my training I'm climbing the 1440ft to the summit of Whernside on Sunday 8 mile round trip from Ribblehead
Thank you everyone for donating so far
I decided to pick Mind as my charity in order to help someone else who suffers from depression and anxiety or other types of mental illness but I also wanted it to go to the local branch in order to help local people , it's my way of saying thank you for the help I received when I was at my lowest point , although Mind didn't help me directly , the company who did Bigambitions on Duke Street in Doncaster aren't a charity, suggested I should move on to volunteer for Mind as a befriender which I am hopefully starting the training on the 8th June
Please help me raise money for Doncaster Mind Thank you in advance #ilovedn #doncasterisgreat #Doncaster
