Boultham Park Restoration Project is an incredibly exciting project for Linkage Community Trust here in Lincoln and will not only mean the restoration and enhancement of this beautiful park but also result in a brand new education centre in the former stable block of Boultham Hall, a cafe and shop for the local community and visitors to the park, and a kitchen garden and glasshouse. All of these new facilities will also importantly provide unique learning, training and employment opportunities for people with learning disabilities.
The park itself will receive much attention to enhance the features and natural areas and there are already lots of activities taking place involving local residents and volunteers - for example we have a Mini Explorers group for toddlers (and their parents) which focuses on the wildlife of the park, and a fantastic team of many volunteers has created a stunning garden to commemorate the centenary of WWI.
Linkage and the City of Lincoln Council are working closely together to make this project happen. We are absolutely delighted that the project is receiving major funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery's Parks for People initiative - but as ever, more is needed! It is our responsibility to 'match' this £2.7million grant and so we are making this Capital Appeal to raise the final £250,000. Every pound donated makes a difference and will be very well used.
