Story
People become homeless for lots of different reasons (such as family breakdown or rent arrears). Those that become homeless are extremely vulnerable and often hidden from our view, it is vital that they can get the help they need as soon as possible.
At CRI we do not believe that anyone should have to sleep on the streets. We provide a service that outreaches individuals who rough sleep and we work to help rough sleepers into appropriate accommodation. This includes assisting people with health care and many of their other needs.
All the money raised by this campaign will go to CRI so that we can directly assist individuals who find themselves rough sleeping. Some of the funds will go to the day centre that CRI delivers for rough sleepers each weekday, where they receive help to access accommodation and other support. The money is also used to assist homeless people as they transition from living on the streets and into accommodation, this is over and above the work that is already funded by Bournemouth Council. Some examples of how this money has and may be used are provision of clean clothing and personal care items, and funding applications for birth certificates that people need for identification purposes. The ability to provide individuals with some of these small comforts/necessities goes a long way to helping them make what can often be a very difficult adjustment in their circumstance.
