BECOME A HUMANITARIAN....BECOME HUMBLE...

For the last few years I have been overwhelmed by the actions of a charity called the Niall Mellon Township Trust. The charity is set up in Ireland with the aim of eradicating the poor living conditions within townships throughout Africa. www.irishtownship.com

Since 2002 the charity has built around,15,000 new homes, providing a electricity and running water for over 100,000 people, for the first time in their lives.

Before I got involved, I took most of my daily comforts for granted. Now, when I worry about trivial matters, I remember my time in Africa; I think I have problems, but my problems are nothing at all.

Over the last 6 years, I amongst other friends, have raised over £40,000 to take part in this amazing charity. To raise money is one thing, to take part in building a home for someone less fortunate is something I will remember for the rest of my life. Sadly, this will be my last year of volunteering, and I am trying to raise £5000 which is the cost of one of these amazing homes.
