Story
Hi there, and thanks for taking the time to read about my story and cause. Up front let me say your support and donation is hugely important and needless to say, very much appreciated.
So, let me tell you a little about me, my charity and what I am looking to attempt in April-2016
About me: Looking for a life changing challenge (read 'mid-life crisis at 44), and I think I have found just that in the Marathon des Sables. Not exactly built for running, which makes a 250km trot out in the desert the perfect choice!!. Living in Singapore means at least I will get plenty of heat training, and a few runs along the beach should also be helpful. (more details on my website: www.brettsmds.com)
About Run 4 Cancer: Run 4 Cancer is a cancer respite charity, with a sporting focus - in running of course hence the logical fit. Run 4 Cancer provide those with Cancer relief from the difficulties of living with this disease. I am sure everyone has been touched in some way by this dreadful disease, and I personally have lost several family members to it - so this charity is a very special one for me in particular. Note: Run 4 Cancer have also agreed to help cover my race entrance fees from the money raised (more details on their website: www.run4cancer.org)
About Marathon des Sables (MdS): This race is not dubbed "The toughest footrace on earth" for nothing!! A 6 day, 250km, self supported ultra marathon through formidable landscape, in one of the worlds most inhospitable climates - the Sahara desert. Contestants have to carry all food, equipment, clothing and bedding, along with the limited water supply that is issued in stages through the race.
