Story
April 10th is around the corner, and I couldn't be more excited to not only have the opportunity of visiting such a curious and equally interesting city, but also running my first race with one of my best friends from Hong Kong! I will be running for World Vision, a Global Organization striving for a world that no longer tolerates poverty, primarily for children.
We've all been fortunate enough to have been exposed to some of the world's best teachers, education systems and opportunities. The kids I am running for, on the other hand, have not.
Instead of studying for the IB/APs and applying to universities, they beg for scraps of food and money on roads and highways. Instead of getting dressed up in fancy gowns/tuxes for prom, they dig through neighbourhood rubbish bins for clothes to keep them warm. When our biggest problem at university was which sorority/fraternity to join, they were frantically doing everything in their power to bring home food and medicine for their frail parents.
All they have, and all that drives them, is hope. Hope that one day, they will have the chance to lead a better life. To be the person they truly are capable of being.
While I don't have the power to change the world (yet), I do believe I can make a difference for at least a few children in this position in the Asia Pacific region - but only with your help. By running for World Vision, and with your support, I hope to raise enough money to kick-start a few children's journey in learning, and post run, I will be looking to continue supporting a child's education until they have completed high school.
Please support me in this cause, as it will not be possible without you! The smallest donation will make the greatest impact. Thank you so much! <3
The countdown has begun. North Korea, here we come!
