Our volunteers work hard on the multitude of jobs involved in rehoming rescued Greyhounds, but the success of all our work depends totally on the generosity of the public to provide the funds that cover our costs, from running the transport to kennelling, from feeding to veterinary fees.
But the recession continues to bite at our fund raising work and we are now dangerously short of funds, to the extent that we are facing the prospect of canceling planned trips to Ireland to save the unwanted hounds collected and held by the great team of volunteers over there in Ireland. This in turn puts a great strain on their own resources.
Kerry Greyhounds is a totally self funded charity, we do not accept any funding from the Greyhound Racing Industry which discards these hounds when they are no longer of value to it. We are utterly opposed to the greyhound racing and betting industry, and feel that to accept funding from them would be little more than accepting blood money. This puts an even greater reliance on our fundraising and public donations.
We are working on some emergency fundraising plans which we hope will help us through this crisis, but in the meantime, if you can spare anything to help us, it would be gratefully appreciated. As you know, we have a non destruction policy, which means that every hound we take on is given a chance of finding their Forever Home, no matter what their special requirements may be, no matter how long it might take. Our kennelling bills are in the region of £5,000 per month and just £5 will help towards a days boarding fee for one dog, but any amount, no matter how little is appreciated to help us continue our work.
PLEASE, please help us to get more dogs out of danger and into warm kennels in the UK while they wait for their foster/forever homes.
As always THE WHOLE OF THE KERRY GREYHOUND TEAM AND ESPECIALLY THE DOGS THANK YOU WHOLE HEARTEDLY FOR ANY HELP OFFERED xx
You are the true heroes where the dogs are concerned, because without your continued support we could not continue to operate and offer a lifeline to these discarded lives.
