Story
JANUARY 2013 -
Just given a talk about this and raised nearly £250!!
WONDERFUL!!!
Update DECEMBER 2012
Donations STILL coming -AFTER FIVE MONTHS!?!?
we've ROARED PAST the target!!
Amazing support!!!!
WE DID IT!! 1,050 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats in 18 days.
It was the worst June weather ever with 50+ mph storms to start, torrential rain, flooding, thunder and lightning – everything but summer weather!
What did have was the most extraordinary help from complete strangers who helped us when we most needed it. We also had fantastic support and encouragement throughout!
I actually found the cycling no problem at all, and Jenni was immense!Despite a number of physical problems not connected with MS and some issues with brakes wearing out in the wet she would not give up.
A big THANK YOU to her for getting me to do it and to everyone who has helped – in any way!
We won’t stop taking donations for a long time; there are lots of promises to be collected so we do hope to reach our target.
Here’s our reason for doing it
Since Jenni my daughter was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1998 she has remained remarkably fit, but she does get very tired.
The West of England MS Therapy Centre has been tremendous. Jenni visits there for oxygen treatment which helps; so does cycling.
Jen uses the bike for shopping and we often go out together. A ride of 50 miles is routine and we’ve done a number of sponsored rides.
Jenni is a fighter, despite her condition which means that she can only work part-time, she refuses to allow it to stop her achieving.
She is determined to complete this challenge, which is bigger than anything either of us has ever done.
It will undoubtedly be hard to ride so many miles for so many days but she is resolute.
What she says is "I've seen loads of people cycling Land's End to John O'Groats, one team had sight-impaired people on the back of tandems, but what really made me decide that I could do it was when I met a 63 year old woman doing it alone."
Another big factor is the tremendous support and encouragement we have already received. We are getting extraordinarily generous donations.
