Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page for my impending trip to Sri Lanka on behalf of Mission Rabies.
I recently attended the Association of Dogs and Cats Homes conference in Birmingham recently and was lucky enough to attend a talk by the founder of Mission Rabies - Luke Gamble. I was so impressed and inspired by the work the organisation is doing and the passion expressed by Luke. On researching their website, I decided that would love to assist in some way and made enquiries about volunteering in the vaccination drive in Sri Lanka.
I heard recently that I was lucky enough to be selected to take part in the trip - I am absolutely delighted. This venture is very personal to me as my parents originate from Sri Lanka and my family has always adopted dogs off 'the street'. I formed strong bonds with our family pets when I visited in my youth and the most beautiful dogs made the best companions, even though they came from desperate backgrounds.
I am sure the trip will be emotionally and physically draining .... but I am ready for it. The chance to help save lives by vaccinating dogs and educating people promises to be so fulfilling. Stray dogs are needlessly culled around the world because of the threat of rabies, so education is vitally important.
Every volunteer participant has been asked to raise a minimum of £350 to support the Charities work to eliminate rabies. My trip is fully self-funded and the money raised here goes directly to the Charity to help them in the various projects they are involved in around the world.
If you can donate anything it will be so much appreciated and you can rely on the fact you are helping an amazing cause.
Please visit the Mission Rabies website to get a sense of the work they do and what they are trying to achieve :
Thank you so much for your support.
Craig.
