Story
Our Neonatal Unit was built in 1974 and is now outdated in terms of décor and design. Our charity exists not to replace NHS services, but to provide the ‘extras’ over and above core NHS services by enhancing and improving facilities for our patients.
The Babygrow Appeal is the largest project the COCH Charity has ever undertaken...
To date we have raised £1.75 million for the Babygrow Appeal! Help us raise £550k this year which will enable work to commence on this urgently needed upgraded space!
'Why do hospitals have charities?' is a question we are often asked. The answer is donations to the charity are not used to replace core NHS funding but are used enhance facilities, and improve the environment for out patients and their families, to ensure the best possible patient experience is provided. The NHS currently funds a neonatal unit with all the staffing and equipment needed to provide an excellent standard of clinical care but the unit is small, outdated, with little natural light or a separate counseling room. These are all areas that will be addressed in the design and building of a new unit that will be double the size of what currently exists.
