All too often the world would tear us down. Sometimes we do too, but Jesus tells us where such thoughts originate. He said: ‘The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.’ (John 10:10).

CRiBS projects affirm. For our newest project, b:You, this is of particular importance. Schools choose girls to join the project for lots of reasons. Girls may have difficulty socialising, issues at home, lack confidence or they may have been bullied. Turn over to see the sorts of comments we hear.

We read reports and see for ourselves the issues, and we also see what happens if these issues are not addressed. Increasingly in Bexley there are concerns over depression, self-harm and mental health. We think that Christians need to be in this arena and rolling up their sleeves to help. b:You project does this with a three stranded approach that has been successful with Boys Noise. Firstly, there are small group sessions that follow our HeartSense programme. Children discuss topics like forgiveness and learn how to cope under pressure. Secondly, there are afterschool clubs where children build friendships and have the confidence to try positive new things. Finally, there is access to a computer programme to help them build confidence in their reading and spelling. Together, these strands form a term long package that is changing lives. We are asking parents, children and teachers what they think of b:You and the response has been hugely positive. One comment was that b:You is:

‘Such a great antidote to the many pressures girls face.’
