Story
The Cambridge University Lawn Tennis Club are cycling in aid of Tennis Foundation. The Tennis Foundation is the UK’s leading tennis charity, focusing on tennis in schools and for disabled players, but also making tennis more inclusive across colleges and universities. They work in partnership with the LTA and manage the British Wheelchair Tennis performance programme, from which there are 5 British players in the ITF top 10 Wheelchair ranking. They run impairment-specific sessions, which allows players with similar disabilities to play among each other, and allow them to feel more included in British Tennis. Many players in CULTC are also coaches to junior players at their home clubs, so increasing the accessibility of tennis in primary schools and state schools is important to us.
We are cycling from Oxford University Lawn Tennis Club (at Iffley Road) to Wimbledon on the 16th July, and from Wimbledon to Cambridge University Lawn Tennis Club (at Fenners) on the 17th July - 220km in total. As tennis players, we are known for quick and short sprints around the court, and not for endurance sports, so completing a ride this long with be a huge challenge!
We would be incredibly grateful for any donations to help support the fantastic work of the Tennis Foundation! Thank you so much for your support!
