Story
About Caitlin!
As many of you know, Caitlin was born with a rare neurological condition which means that she is physically and mentally disabled. Caitlin has global developmental delay, epilepsy and speech and language problems. The basic day to day tasks that you and I may take for granted such as walking, self care, feeding ourselves, don't come naturally or easily to Caitlin.
For those of you that have met Caitlin you will know that she is a shining light of love. She gives the biggest cuddles and has a fun loving and determined personality! She is such a happy little girl who has made real progress and she continues to work very hard in her quest to achieve basic life skills.
What is so special about PACE?
Caitlin is lucky enough to attend the PACE centre (www.thepacecentre.org). She is in their SMILE junior class based at Booker Park, Aylesbury which is made up of children that have a need for a high sensory input.
PACE is a charity based in Buckinghamshire that gives developmental assistance to physically disabled children who find learning everyday skills difficult. PACE believe in each childs ability to learn despite their disability and provides an inspirational environment motivating the children to work hard achieving goals. Help includes physical, social, communication, academic and self care skills.
The progress Caitlin has made at PACE since we joined their parent and child group 5 years ago has been amazing. Her days at PACE incorporate all the therapies that she needs to help her learn and they have helped us as a family in their support and dedication.
What is Caitlin's challenge?
To raise funds for the wonderful work that PACE do, Caitlin has been tasked with a 2012 Olympic themed challenge:
"I will independently walk 2 metres of parallel bars and throw a beanbag at it's target"
What can YOU do?
We would really appreciate your support to raise money for PACE and enable the charity to continue the good work. Every penny raised is used efficiently and is genuinely precious to all the children and families who benefit from PACE.
