Story
This August I'll be paddle boarding 260 miles around the Cornish coastline and beyond, from Plymouth to Croyde! That's the equivalent of 10 marathons... but in the ocean. Training has begun, and so far I've managed a good 7 miles!
In exchange for my challenge, I'm challenging you to a summer without buying plastic water bottles, and instead using a refillable alternative. There are so many places around that will fill up your bottle when you're out and about, so you can help reduce plastic waste in the environment as well as saving money. 80% of marine litter originates from land based sources, so the more we use on land, the more ends up in the ocean. Plastic bottles and their lids are some of the most common things found in UK beach cleans, and it's so simple for you to make your own difference!
I'm also raising vital funds for Surfers Against Sewage to continue their invaluable work in protecting our marine and coastal environments, which are so vital to the continued health of the planet, whether we use the water recreationally or not. The oceans are responsible for creating most of the oxygen we breathe on the Earth!
I will also be holding several events and beach cleans along the way, and anyone is welcome to come and get involved in paddling a short stretch with me, on whatever watercraft you choose.
