Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page!
So this all started one evening in the pub at the start of the year, where Callum floated the idea of doing an adventure race in 2016. At the time it sounded like a great idea. We did a bit of research once we'd both sobered up and found that SwimRun Loch Lomond would be a great one to aim for.
SwimRun UK is billed as "the newest and hottest endurance race for bored triathletes". Inspired by Sweden's iconic ÖTILLÖ, athletes swim a wee bit, then run a big bit, then swim, then run etc etc etc.
Callum and I don't confess to be triathletes, in fact, far from it. So this one definitely sounded like a challenge. We'll be doing the shorter of the two races, which is swimming 3km and running 10km around the Luss Inches and Narrows at Loch Lomond.
We've been doing open water swimming and running practice at local (ish) triathlon training facilities for the past few weeks now and have got to the stage where we're "comfortable" with the total race distance. Since reaching that point we feel it would be good to try and raise a bit of money in the process too, so that we achieve something from all the pain we're putting ourselves through! We've set up this JustGiving page to riase money for our chosen charity - Down's Syndrome Scotland. I have a brother with Downs and so this charity is close to my heart. Callum has very graciously agreed to help raise for this charity too.
DSS work to help people with Down’s syndrome reach their full potential by providing information and support to them, their families, carers and professionals at whatever age and stage of life. They also work to influence government policy to ensure that the society in which we all live reflects the needs of people with Down’s syndrome.
