Charity Swimathon 2016 Lanark Lifestyles, 30 March 2017

Story

Hi. I'm Calum Smith and I will be 9 in May. I am taking part in a charity swimathon at the Lanark Lifestyles pool on Sunday 24th April. My aim is to swim 30 lengths of the pool, a total distance of 750 metres. The charity I have chosen to support is the Torridon and Kinlochewe Mountain Rescue Team. This team of volunteers rescue those injured or lost on the mountains, often in difficult and dangerous weather conditions. The area they cover has 17 Munros (mountains over 3000ft) and 12 Corbetts (mountains over 2500ft). Their training blog can be read at https://torridonmountainrescueteam.wordpress.com/ and it shows how hard the team train when they are not on callouts.  I like to walk and climb with my Granny and Daddy, and I'm glad to know that people like the Torridon and Kinlochewe Mountain Rescue Team are there to help, if people get into trouble on the hills. Please think about sponsoring me. 10p for each length would be a £3 donation and would help a lot.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

About the charity

We cover the area between Loch Maree in the north and Loch Carron in the south, and from Applecross in the West to Achnasheen in the East. This includes some of the most spectacular mountains in Scotland - with Liathach, Beinn Eighe and Beinn Alligin being especially popular.
