Story
For those of you who don't know me, I'm a midwife at DCH who likes to take on a challenge! I'm certainly not the fittest or the fastest, but I have oodles of determination and am not afraid of hard work.
Bearing in mind that 6 months ago I had never ridden a road bike and couldn't swim more than a couple of lengths of front crawl, here are the finer details of the triathlon I'll be completing on Sept 11th 2016...
1.2 mile sea swim (1.9 km) - 56 mile bike ride (90 km) - 13.1 mile run (21.1 km)
I started my training for this back in November, and I didn't really have a clue! I am very lucky to have had lots of support and guidance from my fantastic friends along the way. I've even been lent a road bike!
I just have 7 short weeks left now to continue stepping-up my training. I am hoping to get round the course within 8 hours (cutting it very fine to the cut-off time!). Just to be clear, I'm in it to COMPLETE, not compete.
I would sincerely appreciate any donation towards this huge challenge, and I'd love to have as much support as possible from you all on the day. It's going to be an epic event! Please come down and cheer me on.
Every penny that's raised will go towards DCH Maternity unit (I have paid for the triathlon entry out of my own money).
Thank you for reading my story,
Carly :-)
