Story
Hi all,
This March I am taking on the challenge of trekking across the Finnish landscape with a team of 8 husky dogs for a week, sleeping in wilderness cabins, with only a sauna and fresh snow to wash with! I will be covering around 50 kms a day in sub zero temperatures.
I am doing this in memory of my dear brother Benoit, who sadly passed away aged just 25. I am raising money for www.roadpeace.org, a charity which campaigns for and helps the families of those who have died or been severely injured as a result of a road accident.
Every day 5 people die on the roads in the UK and 3900 die worldwide.
The World Health Organisation mortality estimates indicate that crashes are already the leading cause of death to young adults (15-29 year olds) around the world. And the situation is expected to worsen, with road deaths increasing over the next twenty years. Losing a loved one in a road accident is devastating. It is a sudden and unnatural death, and families rarely have a chance to say goodbye.
RoadPeace is an independent, membership organisation that receives no statutory funding and therefore relies on the involvement and generosity of its members and supporters. If you are able to make a donation, no matter how small, you will help RoadPeace continue in their efforts to provide much needed support to families like my own. It might be difficult to realise the impact these charities can make to the people who are left behind and I feel extremely passionate in helping to raise money so that bereaved families can have the support they need in these shocking situations.
So please dig deep and donate now.
Thank you for your support,
Carole
