Story
I am racing 40,000 miles around the world on a 70ft yacht as part of the Clipper Race and I would like to raise money for The European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer [EORTC].
I will experience storms, snow flurries, iceberg lookouts as well as pods of whales and bird migrations. Life will be lived in a stripped down yacht, relentlessly crashing through the waves and existing on no more than 3hrs straight sleep in a 24 hr period. Once in the Southern Ocean, I will be so far from land that their closest neighbours will be those on the international space station.

For a suggested donation of £150/ $200 I will send you 8 hand written postcards from around the world (obviously I'll send you a postcard or 2 how ever much or little you sponsor me!)....with all proceeds going to charity.
Please add your address via the link!!
Why this plan? I have 8 legs of the race and I would like to share this adventure with people, making them part of my journey in the real world not just the digital. I will only get one day off at the end of each leg (if we are slow or the weather against us...I might not even manage that!)
Can your team at work club together to
raise some money and follow my race?
- Do you have a
grandparent or friend who just loves post...and would adore this as a gift?
- Would your
children’s primary school or Scouts love to receive cards from exotic locations
and learn about my travels?
- Is this
something your office could get behind...tracking my progress, my wins,
spotting wonderful bits of nature...the inevitable tears and storms?
- It´s the Christmas present for the person who has everything...and loves post!
Why EORTC
EORTC is at the fore fount of tailored treatment for cancer, as illustrated by their SPECTAcolor project, which is a tumour sample Biobank and Biomarker analysis platform for genetic profiling of patients suffering from advanced colorectal cancer.
Why this organisation? As many of your will know I completed my D.Phil in the Genetics Unit at Oxford, so research is very close to my heart. The SPECTAcolor projects is a wonderful example of taking primary genetic research and combining with patient samples to swiftly create tailored medicines and treatments.
