Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This year my lovely son Daniel should have been 18 and should have been here so I could have bought him the car he yearned for. Instead after bravely fighting an inoperable  brain tumour I have to get through another birthday without him. This year  will be 6 years without him. I write that number, which gets bigger each year and just cannot believe how I manage to get through so many days without his warmth, his sense of humour and his smile.

As a bereaved parent every day is tough. Its hard to get up and face each and every day without your wonderful child.I have to see people around me being able to watch their child grow and change into adults. I have to watch Daniel's friends learn to drive, as Daniel was desperate to do and I have to watch while they all turn 18. This is one of many difficult milestones in the life that I have now. I had wanted so much to get a car for Daniel and as I cannot, I need to mark the occasion in another way. So we are aiming to raise money for Kids Cancer Charity , as their Playtherapist Ann was so wonderful to Daniel through his illness. He found her visits helpful as he could talk about anything and he looked forward to her coming. Any one who knew Daniel would remember how much he cared about others. He was worried about me when he was ill and having another adult he could trust who knew about Brain Tumours helped him. I just know he would love to know that we still help and support Ann and the team ,and always will ,as we are in their debt for how they helped Daniel.

My good friend Dawn and her friends are organising a zip wire to help us raise money for Kids Cancer Charity on Saturday 11th June 2016. This is a huge deal as some of the ladies are worried about heights and some have lost a lot of weight before attempting to do this. We hope that you can join us in raising money to help Kids Cancer Charity to continue the invaluable work they do with children suffering with this dreadful disease all across South Wales. Please dig deep and if you do remember Daniel, then help us to raise  money in place of an 18th birthday gift. Thank you for helping and thank you to those of you who still talk about him to us today.

Have a look at their website http://www.kidscancercharity.org to see how they continue helping children with cancer, with support for all the family ,special holidays, play therapists and their bereavement groups for children who have lost relatives too
