Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We are raising £5,000 for 100 hours of counselling sessions. These sessions will provide a chance for homeless people to be heard and understood, enabling steps to be made and a better life for those who are experiencing homelessness.
Why the Wallich?
The Wallich has been providing accommodation and support services for homeless people since 1978 and specialises in providing services for people with multiple, complex needs; people who, because of their high support needs, are often excluded from other services and have difficulty in accessing accommodation.
What is it like to be homeless?
Homeless people have reported feeling cold, exhausted from discomfort, humiliated, alone, depressed, unwanted, vulnerable and under constant fear of safety and abuse.
Why should you care?
Anyone can become homeless. The breakdown of a relationship is the main contributor to becoming homeless.
The backgrounds to those that become homeless are varied, but more often than not- a lack of opportunity and fairness in life are major contributing factors.
Around 40% have mental health issues, 15% have recently experienced bereavement, 25% lost their job and around 20% are fleeing some type of abuse or violence.
Your support will enable counselling sessions to take place as part of a wider programme of support. Helping to ensure the root causes of homelessness are heard.
