Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page set up in memory of my brother Ian.
Ian died on May 8th 2014 at just 46 years old, decades before his time. Ian was dearly loved and is sadly missed by many people.
Ian had many passions in life. He loved sport, particularly football and his beloved Newcastle United. Cricket was another great sporting obsession. Ian lived for playing chess, followed the game closely and regularly attended chess clubs wherever he lived.
Ian was a very intelligent and knowledgeable guy. He loved discussing politics and current affairs and putting the world to rights over a pint in the pub. He was a voracious reader with a vast library which was a testament to his broad interests.
Ian was a huge music fan and his tastes covered many genres. Going to Glastonbury a couple of times with one of his mates were some of the happiest times of his life.
Ian moved to London when he was 30 to continue his career as an IT professional. In recent years he took full advantage of the riches of London enjoying gigs, comedy, musical theatre, art galleries and museums.
Ian was a proud Geordie and planned to return home to Newcastle but sadly died before doing so. Ian faced so many incredibly difficult trials in his life yet never felt sorry for him-self. He faced his mental health issues with admirable bravery.
In the last few years of his life, Ian was helped by the charity Hestia as well as being an active volunteer for them himself. Hestia helps people with long-term physical and mental health issues, ex-offenders and victims of domestic abuse. Please make a donation in Ian’s memory so they can continue their fantastic work.
Thank you so much.
