Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page
So, on Sunday 24th July, early in the morning, Rebecca and I will be setting off from Buckingham Palace to cycle our way to Brighton beach. This is my challenge I set myself and that Rebecca gladly (?) agreed to do with me when Mark had completed the Manchester Marathon (seems ages ago!) raising an amazing amount for Young Epilepsy. Many of you will remember the reason Mark had chosen that charity and why. However, circumstances have since changed and on 3rd January we were floored by the words "I'm afraid it's not good news." The results from a MRI scan Isobel had had a few days earlier showed a tumour in the left side of her brain near her pituitary gland. Isobel took the news amazingly and in all honesty better that myself and Mark! Days went by with sleepless nights in-between before we were finally told that her tumour was a low grade, slow growing tumour, something she may have had for a very long time.
Fast forward to today and Isobel is doing well, the medication she is on to control her seizures continues to work, although she still has her "big little ones" she calls them, she gets tired more easily and sometimes she can be a little forgetful. Treatment wise, it's difficult to say, mainly because of the location of the tumour, but when there are 120 different types of brain tumour it can make getting effective treatment rather difficult. Only 2% of the cancer research fund is spent on researching brain tumours, which when you think it is one of the most common types of cancer in children, it's pretty pathetic!
In the early days I had looked into charities that support children in particular and Levi's Star had cropped up. It was Rebecca who suggested we raise money for them, especially knowing it was a small local based charity.
So, please sponsor Rebecca and myself and help us raise an amazing amount for an amazing charity.
Thank you xx
