Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am very aware that I have asked for sponsorship several times over the past couple of years, but this is to be a truly epic fundraising mission. The Mulberry Bush School is an incredible place, located in my home village of Standlake, Oxfordshire. It is a non-maintained residential special school which works with vulnerable and severely traumatised primary aged children and their families from across England and Wales. The school is a remarkable place, filled with compassion, love and expertise in dealing with the children's extreme needs. Their mission is to provide hope and positive outcomes for troubled children who are looking for a way to learn and live again. However, this massively important aim doesn't come cheap - it costs over £140,000 per child for a year, and there are places for up to 40 children at any one time. Therefore, this year, my training is going to culminate in an epic endeavour! To run 100 miles along the Thames footpath from the Thames Barrier to Streatley in Berkshire. I will be doing this with my wonderful TriHard buddy - Emma Welch - who will be raising money for Root and Branch (another local charity - a therapeutic gardening and rural craft project for people who experience mental health difficulties). As part of my preparation for this challenge I will be running in the London marathon on 24th April with another TriHard bestie - Chris Cleland - who is also raising money for the Mulberry Bush.
The Mulberry Bush and the work it does has reminded me of the value of a loving and nurturing family life...and the fact that this should not be taken for granted. To have the opportunity to help children who have had a truly terrible start to their lives is a privilege. Thank you for anything that you can donate.
