Story
Centenary 300 mile Cycle-Sail-Run Challenge, Coningsby 2016 to
St Omer 1916.
This event will see a 41 (R) TES team complete an unpowered 300 mile relay route back in time from our home at RAF Coningsby to the Squadron’s spiritual home of St Omer.
This will take the form of a 220 mile cycle route course, sailing across the channel as the crew for a 45 ft yacht and finally running the remaining 35 miles from the French coast to the old airfield less than 36 hours after setting out.
This adventure will be completed with the Squadron’s charity organisation ‘Seek and Support’ with our chosen charity being LIVES ‘Lincolnshire Integrated Volunteer Emergency Service’ who provide a lifesaving service to the people of Lincolnshire.
This is a really ambitious plan, setting out on 23 April 2016 from RAF Coningsby with a core team of 12 personnel and support crew that will hopefully arrive victoriously, if a little jaded, at St Omer on Sunday 24 April 2016 where a memorial will be held at the old airfield.
We have set a target of £4100, however we are hoping to raise lots more.
