I'm am cycling in aid of Martha trust in August . I have chosen Martha trust as I have seen the amazing work they do. I also have the privilege of working there. I feel very close to the residents of the France's house. The residents have profound disabilities . I work with young adults . My youngest one is 20 years old. To see them laugh and smile everyday makes my day . They are very special to me. Now about cycling in 2014 I was approached by C.O.T to cycle London to Brighton for them . I was going to the gym and had a mountain bike as leisure riding it work which was less than a mile a day . Well slept on it and went onto skyline website and saw London to Paris which if I did it was in 5 months time . I was unhealthy even though I was going to the gym . Had heart problems which come from my mothers side. My grandfather and uncle both died in their 40s which was my age from a heart attack . Living in stress from been emotionally and physically abused for 20 years by my ex husband who was controlling . I was not allowed friends or go to places I wanted to He controlled my life which was emotionally depressing and draining.................. Well been South African when we set out heart on something we go for it. So that's what I did . Everyone said you would never do it they laughed thought it was a joke. Well in April 2014 I started training . I went out everyday on my own did about 15 miles. On weekends joined pilgrims cycling group which was very hard as their speed was around 13mph mine was less than 10. I battled and they were doing around 30 miles. Well after 2 months did London to Brighton with my bosses from my previous job. They were so supported . They probably were the only ones and my sister who believe I could do it. Well 2 days before my ride I dropped a table on my foot . I cried . Put on Facebook and after comments though to myself fractured foot or not I will make this ride . Yes I did . I cycled 305 miles over 4 days and completed London to Paris . Went to doctor on the Monday and was shocked that I cycled with a fractured foot Cycling has come a big part of my life . I have met some amazing people over the past 2 years . Moving to England in 2009 was very lonely as I only knew my sister who lives 25 miles from me. But through my cycling I have some amazing friends . I like both I love social rides but then times I like solo. On solo I find its a peaceful time . Been a Christian it's time to spend with God. One of the reason I made it to Paris I prayed every morning when I set off. Told God you got me here . Please get me through . Now I'm setting off to do London to Amsterdam Next year would love to do the Alph's . I'm also planning to start off my own Martha trust cycling group soon . As I want to help others . I ask if you could please help me raise money for Martha trust . Thank you for taking up your time to read my story ππππππ΄π½π΄π½π΄π½π΄π½π΄π½π΄π½π΄π½π΄π½π΄π½π΄π½π΄π½π΄π½π΄π½π΄π½π΄π½ XXX
