Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Earlier this year, to my total shock as a life-time non-smoker, I was diagnosed with cancer of the soft palate. After a 12 hour operation at Northwick Park Hosptial to remove the cancer, (and create a new soft palate using muscle from my thigh!), I had six weeks of daily radiotherapy plus a little bit of chemotherapy at Mount Vernon Hospital. The world-class expertise and professional support of the Marie Curie Research Wing’s multi-disciplinary team literally saved my life.
Then, just when my radiotherapy was beginning, my wife, Robbie, was diagnosed with bowel cancer. After two operations at Watford Hospital she is, like me, currently well on the way to a full recovery.
After such an "annus horribilis" we would like to put 2013 well behind us and thank the wonderful surgeons and staff at Northwick Park and Watford hospitals, as well as the whole team at Mount Vernon, for all their amazing help during the past year.
And who says the NHS is failing its patients :) !!
