Story
Ladies and Gentlemen I will be ploughing non-stop for 24 hours with a 4 furrow reversible plough made by Kverneland, which will be drawn by my 125 hp Massey Ferguson 5455. This event has been made possible courtesy of Dr & Mrs Jim Hay and the Birch Grove Estate. The event will take place sometime in March/April 2016, depending on the weather.
As many of you are aware I am a Liveryman to the Worshipful Company of Vintners’ in the City of London. All donations will go to the Vintners’ Foundation and from there will be equally distributed to the following charities below:
Plumpton Agricultural College, Sussex
These funds will go towards setting up a bursary for students at the College, studying one of their agriculture or other land based courses. Your donations will be used to support a range of students facing financial hardship and therefore at risk of not completing their studies. If you would like to read more about this please click on the link: http://www.plumpton.ac.uk/
The Vintners' Foundation:
The Vintners' Foundation will be donating half the funds raised to a number of swan charities. These assist with the conservation and welfare of swans on the River Thames, which are currently in decline. Some of you may not be aware that the River Thames swans are owned by three separate institutions; The Monarch, The Worshipful Company of Dyers and The Worshipful Company of Vintners, dating back to the Medieval times. If you would like to read more about this please click on the link: http://www.vintnershall.co.uk/?page=swan_sanctuaries
The Ploughathon will be witnessed by “volunteers’” who will verify the time spent through the 24 hour period (apart from re-fuelling).
I hope you will actively donate to these worthwhile charities, which are very close to my heart. Large or small donations are gratefully received.
Many thanks for your support!
Charlie B
