Story
As many of you may know I have been dragging myself out on significantly more runs than usual over the last three or four months in an attempt to run the London Marathon on Sunday 24th April.
Now that's it's less than 3 weeks and I'm somehow still injury free, I thought I better commit and start raising some money for a fantastic charity that helps so many young athletes each year.
I'm raising money for The Ron Pickering Memorial Fund which was set up to help young British athletes fulfill their potential. They have supported some of my close friends and many athletes that I have been lucky enough to work with, so I have seen first hand the difference that it can make and how much it means to young athletes.
The fund has raised and awarded over £1.5 million in small but significant grants to several thousand talented young British athletes.
Over two thirds of the British athletics Olympic teams in 2008 and 2012 had at some stage of their careers received support from the Fund, including all of the London 2012 Olympic athletics medallists.
Each grant is designed to make a difference, helping the recipients make the difficult transition from junior to senior level through support for equipment, specialist coaching or travel and importantly help build the athletes’ confidence and self esteem through recognition.
Any donation no matter how big or small would be greatly appreciated and I'm sure will give me some inspiration to drag myself around 26 miles of the streets of London.
Hopefully I'll see some of you at the end for a well earned beer.
Charlie
