Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
We all know that whilst I'm rarely ill, I'm far from the healthiest and fittest person going. I love volunteering and love the work the LGF do and I want to see it continue for many years to come. That's why I'm taking on the Slimathon 2013. It's a combination of a 'dry January' type challenge, a major diet overhaul and the taking up of exercise - mostly running, as I attempt the "couch to 10K" programme (note I don't have a 10K planned as yet but maybe if the slimathon works out then that can be my next challenge).
For those of you who know me well I'm pretty much changing my entire life for a 4-5 week period with the aim of raising funds for shedding pounds.
Please donate whatever you can. This charity has changed and saved so many lives. It provides comfort and acceptance to those who have been rejected for who they are, it educates and informs so future generations will hopefully have it easier than the last, it encourages healthy living and supports people in achieving that and on the weekends the Village Angels outreach team which I volunteer for helps keep vulnerable people safe.
The LGF staff and volunteers work hard to ensure that people who are out at the weekend or on the streets get the help and assistance they need. We talk to people who are lonely or isolated, find friends for those who've lost them, make sure people get taxis home if they're struggling to manage, get appropriate medical help for those in need and just generally provide a friendly, approachable face should they need us. This is only one project that I am involved in, but The LGF has dozens more worthy projects which turn people's lives around. I am passionate about this charity and the excellent work it does which is why I want to take on this challenge to raise money to help it keep going so it can help many more people across the UK for years to come.
Thanks for any support and donations you can provide :)
