The Freedom Trail, 4 August 2017
We operate a flying intensive care unit to fly critically ill children.

Story

Following in the footsteps of escaping prisoners and those fleeing Nazi persecution during the Second World War, a 40-strong team of employees and friends of Childbase are undertaking a 5 day march across the Pyrenees.

The route known as 'The Freedom Trail' is a tough physical challenge with remote trails through beech forests, around rocky ridges and mountain lakes - reaching heights of 2522m - before a descent into Spain.

In tribute to those went before, the team will attempt the crossing with limited provisions, accommodation and food in an effort to raise as much money a possible for the Children's Air Ambulance.

About the charity

We fly critically ill children across the UK to the specialist care they need. We know that the longer a sick child is out of hospital, the greater the risk. Our helicopter not only flies four times faster than by road, but also serves as a flying intensive care unit for children.
