Story
· In July I’m heading off to Romania for a week to help under privileged children with their dental care. I shall be working with children from the ages of 7-11 years. As a dental nurse I’m really looking forward to going out and helping the children and making a difference. The children don’t get regular dental treatment, so they can come to us in that week that we are out and we will help them. During the week that we are there we also take part in games with the children, so that their week is jam packed with lots of fun and not just a trip to the dentist.
The children attending the camps leave behind conditions of social deprivation that go far beyond my experience and for the week that I'm there they will live in a healthy environment with good food, clean accommodation and plenty of fun and games.
Vision Romania teams go to work in the summer camps and help the work going on in the Bethlehem centre. Dentists and dental nurses form part of the teams who deliver health care to the children. We not only carry out treatment but try to make sure they have a supply of dental products for the next year. The charity Vision Romania also makes sure that the families have a regular supply of healthy food.
However all this comes at a cost, my target for my trip is £600. I would be so grateful for any donation towards my trip and the charity.
Thanks
