Story

Chris was a incredible colleague, leader, mentor, role model and friend who will be sadly missed. He spent his last days at the wonderful Dorothy House Hospice and wished for any funds raised in his memory to be given to them.

This page has been set up by his former colleagues at Black & Veatch but we would welcome donations from all. For our first major fundraising challenge we are attempting a sponsored walk. We wanted to do something that was relevant to Chris and so we are planning to walk from Bridgwater, where he used to live and work, to Bradford-on-Avon, where he spent the last 25+ years of his life. It is a 100km (60 mile) walk that will follow several rivers that Chris spent a lot of his professional life working on. Just to make it more of a challenge several of the more insane members of our group will be attempting the walk in one go over 24 hours. It has been set up so that the more sensible members of the group can tackle a shorter distance within the overall length. More information can be found at :

About the charity

Dorothy House Hospice Care supports 1,500 families affected by cancer and other life threatening conditions every year. It is the only charity providing free specialist nursing care at home for people with life-threatening illness in Bath,Wiltshire and Somerset. Most patients are looked after in their own homes, but short-term care, out-patient and day patient services are provided at the hospice in Winsley. All care is provided free of charge, but Dorothy House receives only about 30% of its funding from the NHS. This year, after NHS funding, more than £7,000 a day must be raised to continue to provide these services.
