Story
Nicola Shawe, Joan Shawe, Joanne Carlton, Ross Elmsy and Rob Simpson are running the Lincoln 10k.
On the 10th August 2014 Chris Shawe died suddenly and unexpectedly. The donations made in his memory were significant and allowed Nicola to set up a scholarship fund in his memory.
In light of Chris' interest in all things scientific (along with his standing as an all round nice guy and love of certificates) the fund was set up to sponsor postgraduate students in the field of biomedical science. The scholarship fund is at Sheffield University where Chris studied and is aimed at outstanding students who would not otherwise be able to afford to continue with their studies.
In 2015 two students were sponsored. One was doing an Msc in biological and process engineering and the other a MSc in molecular medicine. We hope they will do well and go on to do a lot of good for the world at large.
Last year Nicola and Rob were able to attend the university and meet the sponsored students. It was truly inspiring to see something so positive arising from such a tragedy.
We would like to be able to continue the Christopher Shawe Scholarship Fund and we need to raise a lot of money! So please donate all that you can afford. We are pleased to say that Barclays (Nicola's employers) will be adding to the funds raised.
This is a beautiful and constructive way of keeping Chris' memory alive so dig deep. If you need more encouragement all we shall say is Nicola ..... is running ......10k!
Chris would no doubt be amazed and so very proud of his wife and family.
