Story

This my story, it all started on Sunday the 26th September, being nearly a week overdue I started with some sharp pains around 10pm so I took some pain killers and went to bed and felt maybe tonight would be the night things might get started. I woke up around 1am and went into the bathroom and the pains were still there and I started timing them and they were 10-15 minutes apart. So I woke my husband up, Chris and he rang the hospital, they said I could come whenever I wanted as my other 2 labours had been very quick and only just made it in time with my 2nd Son. We rang my Mum & Dad to come over to look after my 2 sons. My contractions were now every 5-10 mins apart. Over the next couple hours the contractions started to ease off and went back from every 5 mins to 15 mins to 10 minutes and then a bit jumbled. So around 6.30am we decided to make our way to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. On arrival we were taken into a delivery room and a midwife came in to book us in. Then he listened in for our baby boys heartbeat and he kept saying he couldn't find it. I thought nowt of it just thinking to my self what do you mean as my midwife sometimes didn't get it straight away with my placenta being anterior. He then asked another midwife to listen in as the night shift had finished and he was going home and she was having problems finding it too. She came back a few minutes later and said they had booked me an ambulance to transfer me to Calderdale Royal hospital in Halifax for a scan. By this time there was some morning traffic and Chris had to make his way in the car so he could get back so I went with the midwife. I got there and was asked if they could take me straight into the scanning room but Chris had got stuck in the traffic so I agreed. As I laid there I didn't think anything would be wrong as I had felf him move just the night before. The doctor scanned me and then said the most haunted words ' I'm so sorry their is no heartbeat'. My little boy had passed away. My husband arrived a few minutes later and we were both distraught, how could his of happened. My little boy was gone before he entered the world. :'0(

I gave birth to our beautiful sleeping angel Lucas Daniel Emerson the same day on Monday 27th September 2010 at 15.06pm. I was 41 weeks pregnant. He weigh 8lb 0.5oz and had dark brown hair and he was perfect and beauitful. We keep all his memories in a special box and have some ink prints of his hands and feet, a lock of his hair and a clay print of his hand  and many photos which are very precious.

Having two boys already we never thought for one minute that we wouldn't be bringing our little boy home. What should of been a happy moment and occansion for our family soon became the worst day of our lives. Our hearts were shattered into a million pieces and to this day our hearts are still broken.

The Joseph Salmon trust help us by funding a large portion of money towards Lucas's headstone and without their help Lucas wouldn't have the beautiful headstone that he has today. They are a small charity that help families in Hudderfield, Mirfield and Halifax with funeral costs and headstones, as they too lost their little boy Joseph and set up their charity in memory of their son to help others through a difficult time that no parent should ever have to do.

Chris my husband, Lucas's daddy  and I want to raise some money to help them fund another family that may need their help just like we did.

Chris is taking part in the Great Manchester Swim on  1st July 2012 in memory of our beautiful Angel Lucas Daniel for the Joseph Salmon Trust. It is a mile swim and is in open water. Please can you sponsor him as it's for a good cause and will help many more families.
