Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
I first ran this beast of a run in 1983 when I was aged only 20. The furthest I'd ever run was Blaydon to Ryton and back! So it was nothing short of horrific! A boiling hot day in June when I actually got sun stroke!
My Sister Elaine, is the proper runner! I'm the older sister who tries to keep up! She has completed this killer on several occasions. Whereas I always swore "never again!"
But then 33 years later , Laura, my daughter, through her employer Turnitin, chose this charity to support. SHE then decided that her Mum and auntie could do the hard work and actually get from Newcastle to South Shields "nee Botha"!
I've raised money in the past for cancer, strokes, MS, Save the Children and I'm sure I will again in the future. However, small charities like this don't get a huge amount of support. I feel that this is an opportunity for me to give a little something back to animals that have helped me through my illness and most recently depression.
My dog is my running partner and my crazy friend who is even happy to see me when I come back from the loo! The two kitties that have recently joined the household have converted me, a staunch dog only person, to the mad cat lady shaking bags of treats and using silly voices just to get them to give me a purr!! . All animals ask is to be fed watered and exercised. They then love you unconditionally.
Please help us give this worthwhile organisation a bit of a hand and sponsor us if you have a spare pound or two!
Thank you!
