A great friend of mine Karen Williams set up The Buddy Bag Foundation. 

It's to help children living in traumatic circumstances which makes them have to leave their homes with nothing more than they are standing in. They are placed into emergency accommodation without even essential things e.g. a toothbrush, clothes, toys etc. These simple things help comfort and create wellbeing.

So we aim to make a diffence by providing each child with their own Buddy Bag. This is a backpack containing the essentials e.g., Pyjamas, socks and underwear. They also include comfort times like a book, a photo frame and a teddy bear. A Buddy Bag is something a child can call their own no matter where they have to go.

They also contain postcards so we can know how the bags have helped them and so they can say Thank You!

The bags are tailored to suit babies and genders. They are also put into age groups 0-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12 and 13-16 years.

I once had to leave my home with just the clothes I was standing in. I at the time had no children but the effect it had on my life was deep. This now my chance to give back and help innocnent children caught up in terrible circumstances beyond their control.

Karen Williams works hard and is focused on the money going straight to the charity. The bags are packed by volunteers again cutting any expense and putting the money where it is needed for the children.

I'm not a cyclist and I'm not good in the heat but I know with every turn of my wheel a child's life will be a little be easier.
