Fundraising for Balloon Ventures Foundation
Story
Hi everyone! Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page :)
As some of you may know, I will be heading out to Kenya in April this year with the International Citizen Service programme (http://www.volunteerics.org/about-ics). I'll be volunteering there for 3 months with a group called Balloon Ventures (http://www.balloonventures.com/#) whose focus is on entrepreneurship.
Along with 19 other volunteers (9 from the UK and 10 from Kenya) I'll be working with Kenyan entrepreneurs to help them grow their businesses in a sustainable way.
The reason I chose to take part in this scheme is because I truly believe that entrepreneurship can lead to sustainable development and that if done correctly it can benefit entire communities.
Before I leave I need to fundraise £1,500. As ICS is a government funded scheme all my flights, vaccinations, etc. are paid for so 100% of the money donated will go towards making sure that other UK and overseas volunteers can take part in the scheme.
ICS only work with communities that have specifically requested their help and all donations will go towards inspiring young people to become active citizens who are passionate about long-term community development.
Any donations, big or small will be hugely appreciated and I will make sure to keep you updated on how the project is going with lots of photos! (If you are eligible please tick the 'Gift Aid' option as this will automatically increase your donation by 25% at no extra cost for you!)
To raise this money I will be doing a variety of things including:
- Running the North London Half-Marathon on Sunday 20th March
- Organising the best pub quiz you've ever been to!
My aim is to put on some fun events which people can enjoy taking part in. Hopefully it'll give you a chance to ask me questions about the scheme and allow you to connect with the cause a little bit :)
