Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I've been running since 1986 (my last year at Lancaster University) and progressed from the Colchester Half Marathon to my first London Marathon in 1989. Since then I've tried to complete the race each year (subject to exams etc) and this year will be my 20th. Each year I have chosen a charity to support and my fundraising has included:
- Chelmsford Hospice,
- Rupert's Runners (for Muscular Dystrophy),
- VICTA (Visually Impaired Children taking Action)
- Guide Dogs for the Blind.
For the last 9 or 10 years I've been supporting North West Cancer Research and I've been delighted at the valuable findings that are helping us to be more successful in the fight against cancer. The treatment my dad received in 1989 was very basic, but with the knowledge we have now the the chances of recovery and surviving (for longer) have greatly increased.
Training for the marathon forces me to go running through the winter during evenings and weekends, which keeps me fit, for which I am thankful. Please do your bit by sponsoring me and together we can reach my £2,000 target later this year.
