Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On a beautiful hot, sunny Sunday morning back in May 2010 at the age of 2 our son Christian collapsed and suffered a major seizure.  It was completely out of the blue and within seconds his life hung in the balance and he was rushed to Ormskirk Children's A&E department.  His seizure continued for an hour and fifteen minutes and we watched helplessly as the medical team there tried drug after drug to bring it under control.  He was rushed off for a brain scan as they suspected that he had a brain tumour.  Luckily and thanks to the dedicated team we got the good news within an hour that it was not a tumour.  By this stage Christian had stopped breathing and he needed to be put on full life support.  The team at Ormskirk A&E were amazing and they fought hard to save Christians life and it is totally down to them and their amazing efforts that Christian survived.

Christian was then transferred to the Intensive Care Unit at Alder Hey where he again received first class care and attention.  After 3 days on life support he made an amazing recovery and we were allowed home 5 days later.  While we were at Alder Hey, my husband Wayne and I were given a room at Mac House which provides a home from home for parents of seriously ill children receiving treatment at Alder Hey.  Parents are able to stay here, without charge, for the duration of their child's treatment in hospital.

Wayne and I have been indebted to both these fantastic services.  It was always my intention to do something to show them how grateful we are for saving our son but how can you ever say thank you enough?

I have always fancied the challenge of pushing myself to the limit and attempting a Triathlon so when I mentioned it to my friend and training partner Gabbie she got the wheels in motion and registered us for a Triathlon that just happened to be on our doorstep.  She has supported and encouraged me all along  and so on the 22nd May we will be taking part in the Southport Triathlon to raise funds for Ormskirk Children's A&E and Mac House Liverpool.

It would be absolutely amazing if you could sponsor us and help to raise funds for these two fantastic places and the wonderful teams who work there to save lives and support families.

thank you so much

Claire
