Story
I am doing the 3 peaks challenge the first weekend in September (Sat 1st and Sun 2nd) to raise money for the Fiona Dolan Fund. The challenge involves climbing 3 peaks, Ben Nevis ( Scotland), Scafell Pike ( England), and Snowdon (Wales) all within less than two days.
My sister Fiona Dolan died of a brain tumour in 2007. Fiona was a phenomenal person with a very positive attitude to life. She was an ophthamologist and had always wanted to travel to Africa and other developing countries to do eye clinics.
After her death, family and friends decided to set up a fund in memory of Fiona which would help others to improve eye health in developing countries. Funds raised now have set up a Fiona Dolan Clinic in Ethiopia and enable UK Doctors to travel to this clinic and other developing countries to do various eye operations. These clinics provide treatments such as cataract operations which effectively allow people who's eyesight has been deteriorating to be able to see within a day or so post operatively. This was an ambition of Fiona's she unfortunately did not get the chance to fulfill. You can check out information about the fund using the link below:
