Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
A couple of months ago I, Claire decided to jump out of a plane to raise funds for Luton Community Housing Ltd. (LCH) When I committed to the challenge it went without saying that my other half, Lee would be taking the rather large step into the unknown with me ... he is my hero after all, so if I was going to do it, Lee was coming with me!
Well, the big news is ... WE'VE DONE IT! It was third time lucky with the weather, and on the final day we "weather watched" from afar waiting for our two hour notice to be summoned to Hinton Skydiving Centre. A truly exhilarating experience, we loved it.
You've all been fantastic in helping us achieve our challenge - we aimed to raise £1,000 and with your support we've smashed this target raising nearly £1,500 including offline donations. This will help make a real difference to people, and provide them with shelter, hope and opportunity.
Leaping from 13,000ft our instructors ensured we were in completely safe hands. But, let's not forget why we took this momentous challenge...
Claire works for LCH and is passionate about its purpose "Homes-Support-Hope". LCH is a small but growing housing association with a strong local identity in the areas in which it works.
Our primary aim is to provide homes for people; homes with the highest standards possible within our resources. But, more than this we provide additional support to vulnerable individuals in the community that are homeless and need housing, additional advice and help.
We aim to support and empower single homeless people in a secure and stable environment to obtain appropriate support, leading to them achieving their own potential and a smooth transition into independent living within the community. We have six hostels that accommodate; mothers and young children, females, males, people looking for emergency accommodation, and also people aged 65+.
Without shelter and a sense of belonging it's really hard to have a sense of identity and rebuild lives and relationships.
So, that's why we completed our skydive on Friday 16th September, to raise money for residents in these hostels ... stepping out of our comfort zone, to provide some comfort to others.
So many of you have generously sponsored our Skydive and we are so grateful for your support. Your money will be put directly towards our hostels, improving their services, comfortable living and activities for the residents to get involved in - which will encourage them to get back into independent living through further support from ourselves and the local community.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND SUPPORT
