I am running this marathon for Wirral Mind - The Fountain Project based in BIrkenhead. This is a wonderful resource in the community and they provide a safe place where you can go and speak to people if you are experiencing mental distress. The Fountain project have a weekly timetable of groups and support services as well as providing courses for all to access to promote better understanding of mental distress and also promote self care and management. Amazingly these courses are all free to all, service users, family members and carers as well as professionals. And you get lunch!!! for Free!!! where does that happen in today's climate of reducing budgets????

The Fountain Project has helped me so much in the last year. I have been off work for some 11 months,  in that time I have had to come to terms with diagnosis and engage in a treatment plan. The groups I have attended have been essential in helping me to accept what's happening to me and also taught me much needed self compassion amongst other things. The staff are very approachable and supportive.  I would highly recommend anyone wanting to know more go and visit the project, take part in some of the courses for yourselves and also for any professionals working with people who experience mental distress. Whilst the project is based in Birkenhead the other fantastic thing about Wirral Mind is that they open their courses to anyone from any area.

Please help me to say THANKYOU to Wirral Mind for the help I have received but also help the project to keep going as it relies on donations and lottery grants to remain open.
