Story
The school bus in need of replacement is what allows children who live spread out all across the paddy fields in rural Nepal (in Dang) to attend their school. In particular, the bus transports 30 children from the Peace Home to school each day: these are children who, for one reason or another, have no other home to live, so the headmaster took them into his home to care for them. Without the school bus, the home could become non-viable because the children will have to spend hours every day walking to school; if they do continue to attend school, they would have no time for homework or to help on the land which provides the food for them to eat. The school itself is an incredible place that gives great education as well as happiness and community spirit.
8 years ago I experienced myself the fact that the school bus was on its last legs, with hours spent every week waiting for the bus or push-starting it. They've eeked it out for 8 more years but now it's truly broken. I've lived at the Peace home twice (in 2006 and 2008) so can vouch for the charity's integrity and the importance of the school and home in the community.
