Story
I have decided to run the Cardiff half marathon with my husband in memory of my beautiful mum, Nanny Rocket.
❤ Everyone says it but my mum really was one in a million. She had a beautiful smile, was loving, caring and simply amazing. She was an inspiration to so many people and she was a fighter until the end.
My beautiful brave mum grew her angel wings September 9th last year.. She had fought cancer for 7 years, and she really did put up a fight! Throughout it all she did it with a smile on her face.
Shortly after mum was diagnosed with cancer she was put in touch with the Hospice of the valleys. They welcomed her in to their support network and were there for her whenever she needed them. She formed some amazing friendships with both staff and patients. They celebrated the good times with her and were there when times were tough.
As mum's condition worsened the Hospice became a lifeline not only for mum, but for her family aswel. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they were there day and night when we needed them. They visited mum every day in hospital and offered the family massive support.
After mum passed away the Hospice maintained contact with us and are still there for us now when we need them.
What the Hospice does is truly amazing, I can't put in to words just how grateful I am to them for what they did for my mum and our family.
I've decided to run the Cardiff half marathon in memory of mum and to try and raise funds to donate to the Hospice to help them continue their fantastic work.
When mum passed away I told my little girl that Nanny had gone to be a star in the sky, she however liked the idea that nanny was in a rocket. So I'm running this for Nanny Rocket.
My little girl Martha is almost 3 now and I was just 20 weeks pregnant with my little boy when mum grew her wings. Joe is now 5 months old. I haven't done any kind of training since before having my babies and I've certainly never done anything like this! I'll be out of my comfort zone massively, but I know I'll do it with the support of my husband and I'm sure my mum will be at my side every step of the way.
Please donate even the smallest amount and show your support for the hospice. Thank you for taking the time to read my page ❤
