Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This September, together with 7 colleagues from zoos based in the UK I will be trekking across Kerinic-Seblat National Park in Sumatra. Fortunately we will have the expertise of a team of rangers from the Tiger Protection and Conservation Unit based in KSNP to guide our way and ensure we emerge out of the forest intact. Hopefully!

The aim of this venture is to identify and remove the snares laid in the forest by poachers that trap Kerinci-Seblat’s amazing wildlife, including the enigmatic and critically endangered Sumatran tiger and in so doing raise awareness of the plight of Sumatra’s largest carnivore with less than 500  tigers surviving.

We will be trekking in tough conditions carrying upwards of 15kg of kit each day, traversing forest trails and rivers in a hot and very humid environment. It will be tough no doubt. Mosquito nets at the ready! But we will be happy in the knowledge that our efforts are generating funds for Fauna and Flora International and the amazing work they do for tiger conservation.
